Privacy Policy

The short version: the app collects nothing about you. Last updated: July 2026.

Freshist is built to be private by default. Everything it does — scanning, analyzing, cleaning — happens locally on your Mac. This policy explains the little data that does leave your device, and why.

What we collect

When you activate your license, Freshist sends only your license key and a short device identifier (used to count activations against your 3-Mac limit) to our payment provider over HTTPS. That's the entire transmission.

What we do not collect

  • No file contents, file names, or folder paths.
  • No scan results, no documents, no passwords.
  • No telemetry or analytics from the app itself, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No account — there's nothing to sign up for.

Scanning and cleaning run entirely on your Mac. The operation log Freshist keeps stays on your Mac (at ~/Library/Logs/Freshist/) and never leaves it.

Third-party services

  • Creem — our merchant of record. It handles checkout, billing, tax, and license delivery, and receives the details needed to process your payment (such as your name, email, and billing address) under its own privacy policy.
  • UpdatesFreshist checks for new versions by fetching its release feed. This request contains no personal content.
  • This websitefresh.ist uses Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) to measure aggregate traffic such as page views and referrers. This applies to the marketing site only — it is never part of the app, and it never receives your license key or anything the app scans. Analytics runs with storage disabled by default (Google Consent Mode): no analytics or advertising cookies are set until you accept the cookie banner, and you can decline. It is not used for advertising.

Data storage

Your license key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your device. We keep no user database of our own beyond the transaction records held by our payment provider.

Your rights

You can deactivate a Mac from within Freshist at any time. You can also ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data tied to your purchase by emailing hello@fresh.ist— we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under the GDPR, including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local authority.

Changes & contact

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. Questions? Email hello@fresh.ist.
